There's been a shortage of things to blog about this week. No foreign trips, no shopping expeditions till yesterday, only work for Ukraine, work for Kosovo and work for the future (watch this space). So I decided to look if I had anything stored up on Diigo bookmarks, among the dated flotsam that turned up as bookmarked "forblog". Never sure about bookmarking. Whatever seems urgent and really interesting at the time, turns deadly boring and passe when retrieved from a bookmarking system, in my case.
Maybe I am also suffering from ADHD. The Economist claims this week that this is increasing amongst (American) women, in an article headed "Really Desperate Housewives" (subscription only, sorry). I think the new Greek blog I found had it right when she implied that it was a generational thing and that her yia yia (grandma) was always busy doing something practical and necessary around the house but she was busy with her angst. Incidentally, her blog has the only photo I have seen on the protests in Kosovo last week (which came up through my RSS on Kosovo from Technorati).
Conversation over meal breaks (mock GCSEs this week for Bee so, as Sloph has finished her term , we have been waited on) revealed I have missed one of rare occurrences of sex on Gilmore Girls so far. It seems that as well as the one with Lorelei and Max before they (don't) get married and the one with Rory and Dean after he got married to someone else (preferring his home comforts to a blue-stocking wife), there is also apparently the one with Lorelei and Christopher (Rory's missing father) on the porch. I suppose I will have to watch more carefully next time. The only consolation is that there is not much to see ever anyway.
I am reminded of my Russian friend in Murmansk in 1991, when the Russian TV had just started showing the first foreign soap opera. From Brazil, it was called "The rich also cry". Shops would empty of customers and offices would shut down during the hour that the episodes were broadcast. But Valya's comment was: "50 episodes and still no sex". She was not impressed.
